Bárbara Cartier’s artistic practice is deeply entwined with personal experience, drawing on encounters with new environments, material exploration, and more recently, the transformative processes of motherhood and the ongoing (re)construction of feminine identity. Working mainly with painting and sculpture, she engages a variety of media and materials to examine the porous boundaries between care and self-care, and the emotional and physical limits of the body. The circularity of the lines in her work evokes a rhythmic, cyclical sensibility — one that mirrors natural processes of change, repetition, and transformation.

Cartier holds a degree in Visual Arts from the National University of Arts in Buenos Aires and has developed her practice through international residencies in Leipzig and Panama. Her solo exhibitions in Panama City, Buenos Aires, and Dallas, alongside her participation in group shows at institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art of Panama, Centro Cultural de El Salvador, the Museum of Human Achievement in Austin, and Art Foundation in Athens, demonstrate her exploration of the relational, symbolic, and phenomenological aspects inherent in her creative approach.
